ABOUT DUI INSURANCE

Let's be clear:  PEOPLE SHOULD NOT DRINK AND DRIVE AT ALL!!! 

But people do.  Every year over 6,000 people get DUI's in Oakland County. 

A first-offense DUI can cost $10,000 or more, not including Michigan's Driver Responsibility Tax of $1,000 for two straight years.  One could go to jail for 93 days and lose most if not all driving privileges.  (MSN, Solomon, 2008)

THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS DRINK ALCOHOL

A 2006 Gallup poll found that "64% of adult Americans aged 18 and older say they drink alcoholic beverages, consistent with data from recent years." (Gallup, Jones, 07/31/06)

So this 64% of the American population never drives after having a beer?  Of course they do!  But at what point does it interfere with driving?  At what point can it cost the penalties of a DUI?  At what point does it make someone a deadly hazard on the road?

WHAT IS THE ANSWER?

The simple answer is "don't drink and drive."  Many people don't drink at all and the situation never comes up.

However, "don't drink and drive" is easier said than done for many people. 

Do those people WANT to "drink and drive?"  MOST LIKELY NOT! 

In many cities a mass transit system exists and driving isn't an issue.

Not so in Metro Detroit. 

What to do with Metro Detroit's 64% of the population that drink alcoholic beverages?

"DUI INSURANCE"

What?!??  DUI Insurance?!??  WTF???

Here's our point:  If you're riding in a taxicab, you will NEVER get a DUI!

YOU'RE LAUGHING! 

But seriously, you pay insurance on your car, house, health, teeth, boat, etc. 

THINK ABOUT IT:  What is INSURANCE?  You pay a little payment over and over, to keep yourself insured against catastrophe. 

Does a DUI qualify as a catastrophe?  That depends on which side of the steel bars you're on.

If you take

to and from your fav bar
(or your buddy's house)
then you
WILL NEVER GET A DUI
- EVER -

DUIs should be a thing of the past.

Taxi rides shouldn't be cost-prohibitive.

Taxi rides should be convenient.
