The previous section, Metro Detroit Transportation, discussed two important issues:  (1) The public has expressed interest in a mass transit system such as light rail.  (2) The "government" is not going to implement such a system in the forseeable future. 

Therefore it is up to "the people" to implement their own form of change. 

NYCabs, LLC has a vision for better transportation on a large yet managable scale.  MillionDollarTaxi is the fundraising vehicle for NYCabs' vision for better transportation in Metro Detroit.

NYCabs’ Vision

Better transportation is possible. DUIs should be a thing of the past. Business travelers should be able to get around the area with relative ease. Residents of the area should have access to quick, reasonably priced transportation.

NYCabs has a vision to bring better transportation to the Metro Detroit Area:

* More than 100 uniform taxicabs
* More than clean, the cars will be "fresh"
* More than sound, the cars will be tight
* Trained, professional drivers
* Trained, professional dispatchers
* Taxicab stands at all major hotels and malls
* Taxicab stands at downtown hotspots - Royal Oak/Ferndale/Berkley/Birmingham/etc
* Reasonable prices
* Credit Card Swipe machines in each vehicle
* Internet ordering and tracking
* Designated driver services (we drive both you and your car home)
* Courier Service / Package Delivery / Errand Service
* Bus stop service
* Handicap accessible vehicle upon request
* Corporate and personal accounts
* Frequent rider discounts/promotions
* Mystery riders (like mystery shoppers) to guage actual customer service
* Periodic training workshops for staff and management
* Professionally organized and executed marketing plans

There are a couple other new features that are being kept under wraps as proprietary information until the launch of NYCabs.  The ideas of NYCabs will seriously revolutionize the taxicab industry.

The initial opening of NYCabs will proceed with at least 30 cabs serving Oakland County's Woodward Corridor.  Cabs will be added as demand dictates.  The figure "30" cabs is not arbitrary, that is the calculation of taxis needed to cover the inital areas' current demand with a little room to spare for new customers.

For years the taxi industry has been such that most people use taxicabs only as a last resort, if at all.  We believe this is due to the poor service customers have received in the past.

If people could depend on convenient, affordable, professional taxicab transportation, many less people would take the chance of driving after "having a couple."

A good taxicab company will generate confidence and will create marketshare. 


Funding

The plans for a large-scale, professional taxicab company are in place. Funding is needed. That's where the Web Mural comes in.

Alex Tew's Million Dollar Home Page generated over $1 million in under five months.  This is the concept we're applying to our goal of bringing better public transportation to Metro Detroit. 

This web mural has the potential to raise $1 million.  Government will not give us better transportation.  It is up to the community to make it happen FOR OURSELVES.  NYCabs has a plan for transportation.  MillionDollarTaxi is a fundraising vehicle (pun intended) to allow NYCabs to bring better transportation to this area.

Now it is up to the public and communities to see if they are interested in this concept.

Use of Funds and Time-Table


Use of Funds:

This project is scalable to start, within a certain range: bare minimum of 25 cabs to max of 60 cabs.  Starting with less than 25 would not allow a large enough coverage area to reach "critical mass."  Starting with more than 60 cabs would create an unacceptable ratio of more supply than demand.  

Final fleet totals for Oakland and Macomb Counties, at market saturation, is projected at 150-200. Comprehensive business plans have been written for start up capital of $150k, $250k, and $500k. Because of the potential of the pixel website, the $500,000 (100 cabs) plan is expected to be executed. This gives the best coverage at startup with a generous marketing and training budget.  THESE FIGURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

Time Table:

The pixel site, MillionDollarTaxi.com, will be online around the end of August 2008.  Once sufficient ads have been purchased, the plan will be set into action.  We are estimating six-months to raise $300,000 to start the initial operations with at least 30 cabs.  Pre-operations should take 1-2 months. Revenues should begin in the second month of operation.  Wouldn't it be great if we could get the company up and running before the holidays? 

Within a year of opening, we project that the demanded 30 taxicabs of the initial area will grow to a figure close to 50-60 cabs for that area.  This is based on marketshare creation through excellent customer service, professional marketing, and offering services the community can use.  A similar ratio can be applied to the secondary service areas.
